Suzanne Mauritzen

Togo Church Planting Project

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

My name is Suzanne Mauritzen and I was born and raised in Waco, TX. I was blessed to have been a part of a vibrant youth group at my home church that was diligently focused on discipleship and missions. It was while I was on my first missions trip to Mexico at the age of 13, I surrendered to the call of missions. In October of 2010 I began my missionary journey serving in South Africa, Burkina Faso and currently in Togo (with a stent of a 1.5 years in seminary in Texas in between).

Why are you working with 6DI?

Because of the instability in Burkina Faso, at the end of 2020 I was asked to relocate to Togo. I am unique on the team in that while I am on the 6 Degree Initiative team, I am supported by the International Mission Board (https://www.imb.org). I am grateful that both Converge and the IMB are partnering together to advance the gospel in Togo and allowing me to be part of

What is your favorite person (other than Jesus) in the Bible and why?

John the Baptist is probably one of my favorite people in the Bible and I call dibs on sitting next to him at the banqueting table in heaven! I long to have the courage that he displayed all throughout his life mingled with humbleness. He had such tenacity to tell people like it is, such an unwavering boldness to prepare the way of the Lord and yet with such humility that he coined the phrase “He must increase, I must decrease.” When John was in prison, a waiting his ultimate beheading, he humbly asked Jesus if He was, in fact, the Messiah. Jesus replied about the miracles He will do and said to John, “And if anyone is not offended because of Me, he is blessed” (Matthew 11:2-6). John didn’t get to see with his earthly eyes the complete fulfillment of his mission, but he was faithful to the end.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me...

helping out in any way that’s needed! Whether that is to help assist in the kids ministry, or talking and encouraging the women after the service, I’m ready to do what is needed to make Sunday morning a success.

When you are not working, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy cooking/baking and having people over to not only to feed them good food, but also with the hopes of ministering to people’s souls. I also enjoy enjoying conversations over coffee/tea/smoothies, as well as puzzling and reading/listening to a good book or podcast.

How can those who are reading your profile be praying for you?

Please pray that I make it my top priority to immerse myself in the Word and prayer every day. Pray that I would be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading and the courage to follow where the Lord leads. My heart is tender specifically for women- for them to see that they have a place in the Kingdom of God- not only for salvation, but also for ministry. My prayer is that they see their role as vital to advancing the kingdom, and is not only for their husbands. Equipping women and seeing them take ownership of their part in ministry is what motivates me each and every day.
