Our Projects
Here at 6°, we are asking God for 190,000 disciples in the Voodoo capital of the world. Our projects are how we hope to accomplish this end goal. Each project is designed to help start and strengthen the church of Togo and Benin so that it will thrive for generations after we are no longer here. No project operates on its own but all work collaboratively to see the accomplishment of our shared vision.
TOGO CHURCH PLANTING
The first project in the 6° Initiative is Togo Church Planting. We have seen great progress through our church planting efforts in the cities of Aneho and Afagnan. There are currently 29 gospel churches, and we prayerfully believe that we can reach 100 by the end of 2026. This means that we must continue to plant brick and mortar churches in strategic locations and equip these believers to plant house churches throughout the smaller communities. We believe that each brick and mortar church should be able to plant 10 churches.
BENIN CHURCH PLANTING
There is a great need to plant churches across the border in Benin. Benin Church Planting will begin with a focus on the city of Ouidah. This is a city of 100,000 people that is often referred to as the twin city of Aneho, Togo. We believe that we must expand our team into Ouidah. This will be a multicultural, multiethnic, multigenerational team. In order to transform the very heart of Voodoo, we must plant churches in both cities. Without this, one city will continue to have a negative impact on the other. The church planting efforts will project out from the city into other people groups and villages.
TOGO PALMS CAMP
The third project within 6DI is Togo Palms Camp. In a country where 70% of the population is under 30 years old, we must reach and train the next generation of leaders. Togo Palms will be built on the 25 acres of property that we currently own on Lake Togo. We have been using mobile camps to aid church planting during the last decade, but this permanent facility will allow us to multiply our efforts. In addition, we are working with other like-minded ministries to help strengthen the training program for future Togolese pastors and missionaries.
DEAF PROJECT
The fourth project is the Deaf Project. Official estimates state that there are 85,000 deaf people in Togo and Benin. Most deaf West Africans are considered to be a shame to their families and are, therefore, held back from everyday life. Our desire is to reach the often overlooked deaf populations with the gospel and see a gospel movement sweep through the Deaf community of Togo and Benin.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
The fifth project is Vocational Training. The reality is that Togo and Benin are young countries where poverty is the norm. We often have disciples who would gladly relocate to another people group for the sake of propelling the gospel forward, but they don’t have the financial means to do so. In working to plant churches among unreached people groups, we need to be able to send bi-vocational church planters and teams into other locations. This vocational training school will focus on discipleship, skills, marketing, and money management.
