Tell us a little bit about yourself:

We are James and Jenna Roberts! We have two kids, a boy (Micah) and a girl (Sadie). James is originally from Richmond Hill, Georgia and Jenna is from Wilson, North Carolina. We met while serving on staff at Snowbird Outfitters in Western North Carolina. It was there that we both felt our call to missions and were connected to the Six Degree Initiative. In 2019, we had the opportunity to take a vision trip to Togo to see the ministry and meet the team. While on the trip we had such a peace about Togo being the place God would have us serve. Upon returning back to the states we began the process of joining Converge. We landed on the field in July of 2022.

Why are you working with 6DI?

We both have such a heart for middle and high-school-aged students. Both of us were so deeply impacted by the adults in our lives during our youth years who took the time to mentor and disciple us. Likewise, we are also passionate about making disciples and pointing others to know and follow Jesus. With our heart being geared towards youth, and having spent five years working in camp and youth ministry in the states we saw how we could jump in and help serve in the Next Gen Ministry currently happening here in Togo.

What is your favorite person (other than Jesus) in the Bible and why?

My (James) favorite person in the Bible is Timothy because he was a man of great honor, representation, and presence, yet displayed great humility for the task God called him to.

My (Jenna) favorite person in the Bible is Ruth. Ruth was presented with such a hard road yet she pressed forward doing what must be done, and while doing so, the gospel story was on full display throughout her life. She is one of the five women mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus.

On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me (James) at Grace Church in the Adult Service listening in and partaking in small group time.

On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me (Jenna) over in the children’s ministry helping to keep our kids and the other little ones engaged in the lesson.

When you are not working, what do you enjoy doing?  

When not working I (James) enjoy partaking in outdoor activities, reading, and spending time with my family.

When not working I (Jenna) enjoy trying a new recipe whether a main dish or a dessert recipe.

How can those who are reading your profile be praying for you?

Please be praying for our family unit as a whole. That we would balance the pull of family time and ministry well. Please also pray for our French studies as we are in class every weekday. Please also pray that we would lean into and trust fully on God, listening to his direction and wisdom as we move forward in ministry.
